Scholarship Award

The Gerald W. Evans Memorial Scholarship Award is presented annually to assist deserving undergraduate or graduate student(s).

Objective

The purpose is to assist an outstanding student(s) to achieve quality academic education by providing moderate financial assistance to qualified applicants. A secondary goal is to encourage pursuit of studies within the purchasing or materials management discipline.

Eligibility

The program is open to all members, sons, daughters, and spouses of regular or associate members of PMAC who have been in good standing for a minimum of one year prior to the date of application. Applicants must have successfully completed their freshman year in an accredited public, private, or parochial college or university and must submit transcripts and be a full time student throughout the college year.

Process

The President shall notify all members each calendar year that application forms are available from the Association office and the specific deadline for their submission. Applications received by the March deadline date are submitted to a scholarship judg e from a local college or university who will independently review, select, and rank the top three candidates by awarding points (25 possible) in the categories of academic grades, school and community achievements, and a career statement.

Board of Directors Review

The Board of Directors will review the written recommendation of the scholarship judge and make final determination of the winner(s) and the amounts of their respective award(s). In the event that several candidates are closely ranked and appear equally q ualified, preference will be given to those declaring a major in purchasing, materials management, or business administration. The winner(s) will be notified in May and the award funds will be distributed directly to the recipient's college or university. No awardee(s) may receive more than two Association scholarships over the course of his or her undergraduate or graduate enrollment. It's another benefit to being a member, so take advantage of this opportunity!
